The beginning of my story is based on what my family has told
me. I cannot even tell you what date I was diagnosed
because my family did not
keep records and my attempts to retrieve hospital records have been
unsuccessful. I was unable retrieve the records because I did not have a
Social Security
number at 18 months old and the hospital claims the records were lost due to hurricane
Agnes in 1972.
All family members are consistent on how old I was when I was diagnosed. I was diagnosed at some point while I was 18
months old. Based on my birth date, which was very early in the
month I was born, there is
more than a 95% chance I was diagnosed in July 1969. Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon at 10:56 pm. Eastern Daylight Time on July 19, 1969, so I may have been diagnosed before or very shortly
after the first lunar landing. If I ever find out this
information I will update this section. |
