Children’s Miracle Network is an international, nonprofit organization whose mission is to generate funds and awareness to benefit children in 170 affiliated hospitals in the United States and Canada. My local affiliate is Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
Each year I participate in the Children's Miracle Network Telethon. This year the telethon is from Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 7:00 pm Eastern Time until Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 6:00 pm Eastern Time. The telethon is broadcast locally on WGAL TV. I fully support the efforts of this worthy cause. Even though I never needed the services of my local Children's Miracle Network Hospital, it is a comfort to know it was available and is still available today to those who need it.
When I first started supporting this program, I became a 12 x 12 Club Member. This is where an individual pledges $12.00 a month for 12 months. Years later I continued my support when the club changed to the 20 x 12 Club. This year is the 28th year of the telethon in this area. The club is now the 25 x 12 Club.
I plan to join the 25 x 12 Club this year. I will admit that when I call in my pledge, I wait for one of the matching call-in segments. This is where a company matches donations called in to the telethon for a limited time period. This way, the Children's Miracle Network Telethon receives twice as much money. |
